Wall, Einhorn & Chernitzer, P.C. (WEC), one of Hampton Roads largest locally owned public accounting firms, is hiring for its 2025 Spring and Summer Internship Program. WEC has spent over three decades perfecting the craft of advisory, assurance, and tax services and offers a comprehensive internship program that can provide you with real world experience and help develop your skills as you grow in your career.

The spring internship runs through tax season, from the beginning of January to mid-April, with part-time and full-time hours available. Summer interns work part-time from June 2, 2025 – August 6, 2025. All internships are paid positions!

Position Summary: Interns will learn from a team of professionals who are passionate about their work and ready to help you succeed. Interns will test their knowledge and gain hands-on experience in both tax and assurance engagements. These engagements service a wide range of clients, including multi-family residential real estate projects, closely held businesses, not for profits, and various operating companies.

Position Duties:

  • Prepare and draft financial statements, tax returns and other client deliverables
  • Demonstrate knowledge of computer applications routinely used, including Windows 11, Microsoft Office 365, CCH Axcess, Adobe Acrobat
  • Understand the risk-based audit approach and basic file structure for engagements
  • Gather appropriate evidence using effective client inquiries, test of details, and basic analytic procedures
  • Demonstrate ability to prepare and complete engagement documentation
  • Effectively communicate information regarding project status to the appropriate supervisor or manager
  • Seek to improve your own performance by identifying strengths and areas for improvement and applying feedback provided to future work

Qualifications:

  • A “C” or better in intermediate accounting or equivalent course
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree with an accounting or accounting related concentration
  • Junior, Senior, or Graduate school student
  • Strong interest in public accounting and aspiring to obtain CPA certification
